A wedding is a ceremony that celebrates the beginning of a marriage or civil union amid two people; once the province of only a male/female relationship, changes to the law have made this conception obsolete. Marriage is still a legal contract in spite of the religious background; the law requires that the couple sign the marriage certificate in front of witnesses before the marriage may be legally accepted. There are a great some traditions around the world but the terms bride and groom before the couple are married are seemingly universal; after the ceremony they are referred to as husband and wife.

Religious Services

Of course other wedding traditions may be much more perplexed as soon as you look into dissimilar race, social classes and ethnic groups to name a few. Performed by a Christian priest or vicar, the Church ceremony proceeds to be top of the list as a venue. White weddings may be rather normal for those of us that live in the United States, UK, Ireland and the Commonwealth but they are not always accepted international amidst Christian faiths.

Multiple Services

A double marriage is a single ceremony where two couples rendezvous for two discerned ceremonies; affiliated humans are the most likely to undertake for this type of service.

Destination Weddings

Destination weddings are getting more popular and some couples determine to have their wedding and honeymoon in the same place; destination weddings mechanically conjure up exotic countries but it could just as effortlessly be a themed wedding in Las Vegas to qualify for that title.

Weekend Break Weddings

A weekend wedding is where couples and their guests celebrate over the course of a weekend. To cater for an expanding market a number of companies arrange particular themed occasions that integrate anything from golf to surfing. Lodging is normally at the same facility and couples oftentimes host a Sunday brunch for the weekend’s finale.

Online Ceremonies

An online wedding is conducted on the internet which may resemble a normal ceremony; internet based specialists are already available to help coordinate your ceremony. Marriages that are broadcast live online are also referred to as online weddings.

City Hall Weddings

Despite the term civil wedding, most services that take place outside of a Church, wherever that may be, are civil weddings which have to be carried out by appointed or elected judges, mayors or a justice of the peace. Although it may sound clinical, civil ceremonies commonly make no reference to God. Often, this type of service will take place in a judge’s chambers, town or city hall or any other peculiarly indicated place.

This brief article mainly discusses weddings based around Christian beliefs but the number of religions and cultures around the world means there is much more to learn with regards to this subject.

5A Live Recording: Alive Indeed!
By Dr. Debra Jan Bibel
Sometimes a “live” recording, when performed before an audience with one take, is magical. It captures all the energy and heightened sensitivity of both player and listener. Yo-Yo Ma has recorded Schelomo before, with the Baltimore Symphony, and Legend of Herlen has appeared on Silk Road Journeys, but compared to this recording, those tracks were flat and straightforward. Here, the beauty and majesty of every musical piece is fully manifested; the depth of the concert hall and clarity of sound provide presence. I have nearly all the recordings of Lou Harrison’s Indonesia-inspired music and this Pipa Concerto with the brilliant Wu Man is an outstanding addition. To close the various Asia-inspired selections, Prokofiev’s Scythian Suite, performed the following month with a different conductor (Alan Gilbert), is a good match for the theme, although its verve and splendor do not reach the same heights. Nonetheless, this album is exciting.

5New Music a Winner!
By George C. Stewart
I bought this CD primarily for Harrison’s Pipa Concerto. But I found the other selections also a nice surprise. Wu Man’s work certainly gave me a better appreciation of Silk Road music, and I thank Yo Yo Ma for bringing this unique music to our attention.

4A beautiful fusion of East meets West.
By Chad W. Powers
Yo-yo Ma has created a much needed intellectual approach towards a destruction of musical and cultural boundaries within the context of the musical idiom. I found this particular CD to be most impressive.

thank you
